What’s therapy like with an Art Therapist?

In therapy sessions, we’ll talk, practice coping skills and (if you want) make art. As a Licensed Art Therapist with sixteen-years of clinical experience, my work is grounded in depth-oriented, evidence-based, and creativity-infused therapy.

Guided by our dialog, I may invite you to express ‘stuck’ points, emotions or experiences through art making.

Art-making will always be invitational, and thoughtfully adapted to your comfort level.

You’ll have access to a variety of art materials such as; colored pencils, markets, watercolor paint, collage, ect. I’m trained in a variety of “talk therapy” methods, so you don’t need to be “good at art” or make art in order to benefit from my approach. If you prefer to just talk, that’s okay too!

Reviews

  • "Alison was a great therapist to us. She became very faimilar with our background and was able to read into our personalities and things we needed to work on. We gained lots of tools for problem-solving, communication, and decision-making. I can say we reached the goals we were hoping during threapy. We recommend her to anyone looking to be heard, overcome traima, and improve their partnership. Also, she recommends the best books and activities."
